Precision Dialogue Saves Money and Accomplishes More with ActiveBatch's Per-Server Licensing

An ActiveBatch Workload Automation Success Story

Precision Dialogue is a database marketing and interactive services firm. Driven by analytics, Precision moves large volumes of client data and was looking for an advanced IT automation solution with specific capabilities. Precision needed to:
  • Securely receive customer data, analyze it, and return it to customers in a secure format;
  • Automate the monitoring and tracking of critical workflows;
  • Institute event-based automation to reduce the need for manual interventions;
  • Gain more resource management capabilities in order to increase efficiency.

By The Numbers

99.95%

Precision Dialogue has achieved a 99.95% success rate for the jobs it runs in ActiveBatch.

450k

Precision Dialogue uses ActiveBatch to run more than 450,000 jobs per year.

Precision Implements ActiveBatch

Precision implemented ActiveBatch in part because ActiveBatch uses a per-server licensing model instead of charging by usage. This allows Precision to adjust their environment to meet dynamic business needs while leveraging ActiveBatch’s features and capabilities:

  • Automated ActiveBatch workflows are triggered whenever a customer file arrives, decrypting and delivering the file for processing, and also notifying the customer;
  • Further workflows then generate files and reports, compress and encrypt, and deliver to the customer via a prebuilt, ActiveBatch SFTP job step;
  • ActiveBatch runs high-end reporting models automatically during periods of low server usage, optimizing the use of Precision’s hardware and extending server ROI.

In Their Own Words

“The idea of Execution Agents and the point system is great because it allows us to manage our own environment on the fly.”

“We run servers with multiple processors. To go with a job scheduling vendor that charges CPU or processor usage would have been astronomically expensive.”

How Precision Succeeded with ActiveBatch

“By automating tasks for basic things such as ad hoc file transfers to clients, we’ve been able to standardize the processes that everyone uses. It’s streamlined IT operations and has made everybody more self-sufficient, and we’re better off as an IT organization as a result of it.”
